About

I started my journey into professional gardening in 2020, during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Prior to this, I'd been an avid houseplant collector and enjoyed learning about how to grow exotic and unusual houseplants. The lockdowns that ensued led me to develop my interests in horticulture further and I began cultivating my own little garden to grow fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

In 2021, I began undertaking courses at Winterbourne House & Gardens in Birmingham through the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) where I learned about the principles of garden design, the establishment and maintenance of plants and lawns, and other practical horticultural skills. I particularly enjoyed learning about the use of eco-friendly practices which I try and promote in my work wherever possible today.

During this time, I began applying what I had learnt by helping family and friends with their gardens and this made me realise how happy I was being outside, with my hands in soil, surrounded by nature. This led me to develop my own gardening business so I could help other people reconnect with their gardens.

Mr. Tom’s Garden Services currently operates in Burntwood and the surrounding areas and offers an eco-friendly approach to gardening. I am fully insured, and accredited by the Gardeners Guild as a professional gardener so you can have peace of mind that your garden is in safe hands!
